The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) was first started by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) during the 2004 – 2005 academic session with an objective to have a single entrance exam for admissions to M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-PhD and other Post-Bachelors Degree Programs related to science subject.
